Join the AAUW
Capitol Lobby Corps You will enjoy the company of
convivial and intelligent persons and intellectual challenges, and you
will help achieve equality for women and girls. (We've come a long way,
but we're not there yet.) The AAUW Capitol Lobby Corps advocates for
equality every Wednesday in Santa Fe during the legislative session.
Some of the issues we have worked on successfully are education,
domestic violence, vouchers, campaign finance reform, and pay equity.
We are very proud to be able to say that WE HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE.
Occasionally we lunch in Santa Fe and visit a museum, following our
mornings of lobbying. We provide training and lobbying buddies and will
be delighted to have you join us. The Albuquerque Branch established a Research and Projects Endowment in 1996 with a Branch contribution of $6,000. At this time, the endowment has been unofficially completed and is funded at $35,000. A Research and Projects endowment provides grants to communities and individuals to do research, have an event or do a research project for the advancement of women and girls through education. Since 1933 the Branch has given scholarships, and the Branch established the AAUW-UNM Endowment for graduate women at the UNM Foundation. The Albuquerque Branch founded and participates in Capitol Corps activities. Membership Annual membership dues are $70.00. New Members joining between January 1 and March 1 pay $35.00 for the remainder of the current fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Make checks out to AAUW-Albuquerque Branch and mail to AAUW-Albuquerque Branch, P.O. Box 92643 Albuquerque NM 87199-2643. More information contact Membership Chair.
