WHAT?
The
AAUW Educational Foundation is the largest source of funding in the
world
exclusively for graduate women, awarding over $3.3 million annually to
nearly
300 scholars, teachers and community activists, and an important source
of
research on gender inequity in education.
The
women of AAUW believe in equity for all women and girls, lifelong
education,
and positive societal change.
ELEANOR ROOSEVELT FUND FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS
Inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt’s vision that “we need every single mind” for America’s future, since 1988 the Eleanor Roosevelt Fund for Women and Girls has helped foster more equitable education for girls in grades K-12, especially in math, science, and technology. The Eleanor Roosevelt fund supports fellowships for public school teachers and groundbreaking research that has changed the way scholars, policy-makers, and the general public think about the educational experiences and needs of girls in public schools.
AMERICAN FELLOWSHIPS FUND
The American Fellowships Fund awards financial aid to women scholars who are completing doctoral dissertations or conducting postdoctoral research across the spectrum of the sciences, social sciences, the arts and humanities. The program also provides small grants to women scholars who are preparing completed research for publication.
INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS FUND
The International Fellowships Fund supports women from other countries for full-time study or research in the United States. Both graduate and postgraduate study are supported for women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
AAUW New
Mexico is committed to filing a $100,000
pledge to the Corrine Wolfe International Fellowship. This AAUW
International
Fellowship will be awarded in the name of AAUW New Mexico and Corrine
Wolfe
when the pledge is complete.
The Fellowship was named for Corrine Wolfe, a
New Mexico Living
Treasure, who spent her personal and professional life in the service
of our
nation’s and our state’s children. Corrine Wolfe created the Social
Work
Graduate program at New Mexico Highlands University.
RESEARCH & PROJECTS FUND
The Research
& Projects
Fund supports community action and independent research projects. The
fund
includes both Career Development Grants and Community Action Grants.
NAMED GRANTS
AAUW
New Mexico sponsors three named grants: Corinne Wolfe
International Fellowship 4226, Albuquerque Named
Grant 4014, and Georgia Fritz Named Grant 4029. Individual donors,
branches, and
states can continue to contribute to these grants to honor the spirit
of AAUW
New Mexico women.
LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND
The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding
and a support
system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination. It is
the
nation's largest legal fund focused solely on sex discrimination in
higher
education. LAF helps students, faculty, staff, and administrators
in
higher education challenge discriminatory practices such as sexual
harassment,
denial of tenure or promotion, pay inequity, and inequality in women's
athletics programs.
